September is the time the seasons turn:~ Flowers giving way to fruit, misty mornings, fallen apples, the first leaves turning, spiders’ webs, and back-to-school.
Shorter days with shafts of beautiful low sunlight – obliquely angled – hinting at what has now largely passed.
The harbinger of the onset of autumn, in turn presaging winter.
Another six months before the days will be as long again.
Melancholia can result; a sudden nostalgia for the summer that passed all-too-quickly, particularly in middle age.
